Once a working tool of the Parisian glove trade, this antique solid brass glove form mold now earns its place as sculpture. Stamped Pelletier & Jaminet, Succrs, Rue de Crimee, Paris, it is an authentic factory artifact from the city that set the standard for fine leather gloves, and it measures approximately 15 1/8 x 3 3/4".

Glove makers slid finished leather gloves over forms like this one to stretch, press and shape them before they were packed and sent to the shop. The elongated, outstretched hand is cast with four slender fingers and a long, squared base that once mounted the form to its stand. A warm reddish wood block remains at the end of the tang, held in place with slotted brass screws. The factory markings are crisp and wonderfully legible: the maker's stamp, a size mark reading 9R, and the numbers 530 and 754 stamped near the base.

The brass carries a rich, mellow patina with the gentle scratches, spots and tonal shifts that only decades of workshop use can produce. Its weight and clean, graphic outline give it real presence. Stand it upright on a console, lean it against a bookshelf, or set it on a desk or coffee table, where it reads instantly as a bold piece of industrial sculpture with a fashion pedigree.

Antique glove forms are prized by collectors of industrial design, fashion history and French decorative arts. This example, with its documented Paris maker and period markings, is a handsome conversation piece for a stylish interior, a collector of Parisian trade objects, or anyone who appreciates the beauty of a thing made to do a job well.

Details: Solid brass with wood tang block. Made in France. Maker stamped Pelletier & Jaminet, Paris. Size mark 9R. Approximately 15 1/8 x 3 3/4".

Who Are You Buying From?

Every object here has a journey before it ever reaches you. I've spent years seeking these pieces out, in back rooms of old ateliers, from families who've inherited more than they can keep, through dealers I've come to trust, in conversations with people who still work with their hands, because I've always believed the things we choose to live with should carry something true. What began as a private obsession became a devotion, one I now share with my wife and daughter, who remind me daily that the best collections are the ones built to be passed down, not simply owned. What you're holding isn't just an object. You're inheriting its story, and becoming part of its next chapter.
