Fassianos, one of Greece's most celebrated postwar painters, brought his distinctive figurative style to a small number of collaborations with Daum, and this Kalisti head is a fine example of that crossover between painting and glass.

The crystal itself is left clear and satin finished, letting the carved profile read almost like a line drawing rendered in three dimensions. Fine gold accents pick out small details along the brow and neckline, a restrained touch that adds warmth without ever competing with the purity of the crystal form.

Measuring 3 3/4 x 3 3/8", the sculpture is compact enough to display on a shelf, desk, or mantel, yet carries real presence thanks to the strength of its silhouette. Daum's collaborations with painters and sculptors have long produced some of the house's most collectible work, and pieces bearing Fassianos's distinctive hand are genuinely sought after by collectors of both French crystal and modern Greek art.

A refined and distinctive object, well suited to anyone drawn to the intersection of fine art and decorative glass.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0639/1247/6810/files/Daum_Alekos_Fassianos_Crystal_Kalisti_Head_Sculpture_-_France_4.jpg?v=1791525427
