Mario Buccellati brings his signature hammered and chased silverwork to this small egg shaped vase, the entire surface covered in a fine, densely textured hammered finish that catches light unevenly across every plane rather than reflecting it cleanly. That texture is a hallmark of Buccellati's workshop, giving even a simple form real depth and movement.

A small silver rosette in the shape of an open flower sits at the front of the vase, with matching smaller rosettes set at each side, adding a touch of naturalistic ornament against the otherwise abstract hammered ground. The neck flares gently outward before narrowing again into a compact opening, and the vase sits on a stepped, weighted foot for stability.

Signed and dating to circa 1970, the piece is worked in 800 silver, the Italian silver standard, with a total weight of just over 96 grams reflecting genuinely solid, substantial construction rather than a thin decorative shell.

Made in Italy, this is a refined example of Buccellati's textural approach to silverwork, well suited to display on its own as a small sculptural object or used as intended for a single stem or a small arrangement.
